Downtime data is just the beginning. Like any manufacturer committed to continuous improvement, we know that Overall Equipment Effectiveness is where it’s at. That’s why Thrive’s automated downtime tracking software includes OEE capabilities designed to give you the exact data you need to make positive change in your processes, thus improving your OEE score.
Any good journey starts at the beginning, so let’s kick it off with the basics.
What is OEE?
Overall Equipment Effectiveness identifies what percentage of the time a manufacturing facility is actually productive.
OEE Metrics
To figure an overall score, OEE software must monitor quality (how many good items you are producing), performance (how quickly you are producing them) and availability (how long your equipment is running without downtime).
OEE Calculations
Overall Equipment Effectiveness calculation can be done using one of two formulas:
OEE=Availability x Performance x Quality
OEE=Good Count x Ideal Cycle Time / Planned Production Time
OEE Benchmarking
It’s hard to know where you need to be if you don’t know where you are. It’s even more difficult to know where you should be if you don’t know how you compare, so let’s take a look at some benchmarks.
World-class manufacturers: 85%
Typical manufacturers: 60%
Manufacturers just starting to track performance: 40%
OEE Monitoring & Tracking
At Thrive, we’re firm believers that, “What You Measure is What You Manage.” Our all-inclusive monitoring and tracking software automates the measurement process, then takes things a step further by providing you with the exact reports and data you need to improve your facility’s OEE.
